Meadowlark Prairie is a popular destination in the West Eugene Wetlands. It is co-owned and managed by the Bureau of Land Management and the City of Eugene. The Fern Ridge bike path encircles this extensive natural area, and an outlook with parking, picnic tables, shade, and restroom facilities is located just south of Royal Avenue on Green Hill Road. Bird watching is a popular recreational activity, with waterfowl, raptors, and songbirds, including the Western Meadowlark, all frequenting the habitats of this natural area.

One of the features at Meadowlark Prairie is a popular webcam.

Meadowlark Prairie today is very different than in the past 100-150 years. In the 1990s, this area was restored, converting from agricultural fields to restored and enhanced wetlands. The restoration work reestablished historic drainage and flooding patterns, provided wetland plant and wildlife habitat, provided recreation and educational opportunities, improved flood storage capacity, and improved water quality in the Amazon Creek system.
